Mo More

Electoral reform lost another champion this morning, as Mo Mowlam went to join Robin Cook and Lord Jenkins in fair vote heaven. Having never met her, and my abiding memory of her being a Friday Night Armistice sketch featuring an irreverent take on Jon Snow's swingometer, with a game of 'Swing Mo', to satirise her handling of the Northern Ireland troubles, there's not much point me saying a great deal.

However, I shall urge you all to go and read (or hopefully re-read) her two reform-tinged articles for the Independent back in May. One. Two. Capital stuff.

And, for your perusing ease, the coverage of her death from the MSM, the blogosphere and that odd bit in between.

Backword

Mowlan and Cook were among the reasons that voting Labour in May 1997 felt so good. Now they’re gone, and apart from the sadness I feel at the deaths, I’m left with a taste much like you get on finding half a maggot in an apple.
