Cameron, D, 'as a PR past? Surely not.
Inside a very long and occasionally interesting article about David Cameron in today's Grauniad lies this paragraph:
Bogdanor remembers a student who he felt was always destined for the first that he received in politics, philosophy and economics, but "not really a party political hack". Bogdanor even swears Cameron once argued in favour of proportional representation, although, as Cameron points out, "I've got the essays and he hasn't."
This is explainable one of two ways, both equally plausible.
a) Bogdanor is being cheeky
b) Cameron has been corrupted by careerism in the last couple of decades
It matters not, and someone gunning to be leader of his party is clearly too ambitious to let such a thing as sensible inquiry interrupt his march, and it would require some sort of special occasion to bother to work on this little snippet. However, in a quite staggering grasp of topicality, next week is Conservative Week here at MMVC Towers, so we shall see what we can do.*
(*for those who see such a statement as an excuse to run away screaming, worry not: it just means the Conservative Party Conference is on, so there'll be more opportunity to make Tory jokes, and ERS have a briefing on the Conservatives and the electoral system due, which I'll chop up and post in sections. It'll be fun. Trust me.)
