Italy: where would we be without you?

Why can't 'real' news be as exciting as the cricket?

Some days it seems only Silvio can get anywhere close. His latest fun thing to do is to storm off TV shows when the questioning turns away from just how ruddy marvellous he is and on to how Italy is in a bit of a state. The poor man.

Still, he might yet win. With so many voters undecided, and the majority of Italians having more interest in TV than politics, as well as all the legalised cheating that's already happened, Mr Berlusconi's desired 15 years in power is still very much on. If the people want the man from the telly, then the man from the telly they shall have. And people say Silvio is undemocratic.
