Barking and Dagenham

The results in Barking are very worrying in terms of BNP victories, but also notable for a different reason. Close analysis reveals that the electoral system is working overtime in its distorting effect. Conservatives and UKIP seem to be hugely under-represented. In fact the Conservatives have come 2nd behind Labour in terms of share of vote. Yes, that is correct: not BNP, but the Tories. Just the BNP won all those 11/12 seats and are making the headlines. So there's a big story here. More to come ...
