A referendum a day ....
There was talk at all 3 party conferences about direct or deliberative democracy. The Lib Dems are keen on localism and subsidiarity. There are some in Labour who are starting to warm to the idea of deliberative initiatives, such as that run by the Health Dept and espoused by Patricia Hewitt at our fringe. And judging by the support on the conference floor for it and the numbers at the Our Say fringe,
the Tories are keen to have make referenda a more widely used device.
Well, now someone has suggested holding a daily referendum, giving people a chance to vote on the major issue of the day, every day (except for Sunday, when even politicos have to take a rest). Take a look at www.dailyreferendum.co.uk
