Round-up! Round-up!

A very quick round up of a few recent and potentially interesting news stories for those of you who've have been too hungover to get round to reading the papers this New Year. Given that I am (variously) a "paranoid leftist", a "dreamer" and a "multi-cultist (sic?)", most of them come from the Guardian:

A poll commissioned by Jon Cruddas shows 62% of voters have not been contacted by the Labour party since the 2005 general election. Quel surprise.

Party funding reform may, or may not be deadlocked. Perhaps Labour are already trying to save money by cutting back on expensive "outreach" work like, erm, talking to voters…

Congress looks set to show Parliament what being a legislature is all about. Gordon Brown take note.

Academics are calling for an increase in the number of Welsh Assembly Members to ensure proper scrutiny of legislation. Not everyone agrees.

Le French may yet find themselves the victims of what is known in the trade as a "reverse-Chirac".

Le Heff may yet find himself on the campaign trail '07. I imagine there's no shortage of fear and loathing where he is concerned.

And, finally, to keep us in the New Year spirit, Iain Macwhirter on how to preserve the auld Union.
