So basically says Alan Watkins, in his Sunday Independent article entitled: 'electoral reform is in season'.

The piece offers a quick history of Labour's electoral reform-related pronouncements since 1997 and an analysis of the current Alternative Vote musings by the Government. Alan then offers two bits of advice, first to Brown and then to Clegg:

"Now, however, I think Mr Nick Clegg should make clear which system he would favour. He should give up the search for the Holy Grail of perfectly proportioned representation and settle for the alternative vote instead."
