Myth-busting guides
All the answers in one place (well, the links to them at any rate). There are a couple of really good resources to help tackle the myths and misconceptions about electoral reform and PR systems. We need to take the fight to the conservative, old-guard naysayers who want to protect their jobs, the political elite they belong to, and their outmoded way of doing politics.
Hit them where it hurts: with the truth.
Euro Votes Count website - (i) explanation of Euro elections system (ii) the election and the far right (iii) PR isn't incomprehensible (see myth 2) (iv)our own critique of the closed list system and why we wouldn't want to see it use for electing MPs (see myth 4)
European elections - MVC blogpost on how ballot paper problems were administrative faults not issues with the system itself.
PR Myths guide - the offical ERS handbook to separating fact from fiction.
BNP gains in county council elections - MVC blogpost explaining how First-Past-the-Post has let in extremists.
MVC response to Cameron - lines to take against the anti-PR messages the Conservatives are putting out.
The case against First-Past-the-Post - blogpost on Liberal Conspiracy
Rebutting Cameron's PR myths - blogpost by Mark Reckons.
