Post Election Plans

Make Votes Count the umbrella campaign for voting reform, has written to the Prime Minister. In the letter campaign director Nina Temple points out the failings of the voting system that have produced such a travesty of democracy in this election. She also urges that the internal government review of voting systems now underway be transformed into an urgent, open consultation, that could pave the way for the long awaited referendum on voting reform.

Public meetings
Voting reformers will be expressing their dismay with the present voting system at a meeting in Parliament at 6:30 p.m.- 7.30 p.m. Wednesday 11 May committee room 14 in the House of Commons, Westminster (room booked by Martin Linton MP) Speakers: Polly Toynbee, Billy Bragg, Chris Rennard and Martin Linton. This will be followed by a chance to network in the local Westminster Arms. Organised by the ERS with Make Votes Count. Ring ERS on 020 7928 1622 for details of further meetings in Edinburgh 13 May and Cardiff 16 May
