Robin Cook gave his last speech on electoral reform at the Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform AGM, at the beginning of July 2005. His speech and responses to audience questions, together with contributions from John Denham MP and Raymond Plant, were reproduced in a special supplement to the bi-monthly Chartist magazine. This supplement – entitled ‘Robin Cook’s lasting legacy’ – outlines the Labour arguments for reform and why it is in the party’s interest. There are additional pieces by Clare Short MP, Anne Campbell and other reformers.
There are 3 sections to this supplement, on separate pdfs:
Although aimed at Labour supporters, many of the arguments and ideas within this supplement - on fairness, democracy and increasing participation in politics - are applicable to the general campaign.
