Your Vote Counts in the European Elections - campaign announcement

Building on the Londoners' Votes Count initiative we carried out for last year's London elections, MVC is now gearing up for an expanded voter education effort in the coming months in the run up to the European elections on 4 June.

The idea is to use our expertise in PR elections to support voter registration and turnout efforts; specifically by being able to explain how the system works, familiarise people with the ballot paper; encourage types of campaigning which maximise the benefits of the system; and - importantly - to give answers to the questions: "why should I vote? and "will my vote count?"

We will working with a variety of campaign groups and community organisations who want to encourage their members / supporters to get involved in the election and vote.  If you would like to receive such advice or resources, or want someone to come to talk to you about the elections, do .

The first public resources we produced were for the Unite Against Fascism Annual Conference on 21 February. Our handout is available below.  While some is specific to the event, most of the messages are applicable to a wider audience.

Feel free to use and circulate this as widely as possible.  And look out for more from us in the coming weeks.
